Flatio.cz, a real estate startup that offers apartments to rent for a period of 1 to 6 months, has announced that it is now accepting Bitcoin. A new service is currently available in Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Vienna, Bratislava and Berlin.

Users can now pay their rent via cryptocurrency; however, a fee of 500 CZK (about $23 USD) and must be paid in the fiat currency.

Radim Rezek, the founder and CEO of Flatio commented:

"We observed a growing interested in payments in Bitcoins in August when we started accepting it in Berlin. We expect Bitcoin to be successful in the largest European cities where we also want to expand our services in the coming months. Our goal is to bring technological benefits that have practical uses. Until recently, we paid no serious attention to cryptocurrencies but Berlin changed everything.”

The Bitcoin payments are processed via the GoPay payment gateway, which will automatically exchange Bitcoin to fiat currency according to the currency exchange rates. This allows users to make payments in cryptocurrency, while landlords and property owners, on the other hand, can receive the payment in local currency Czech crowns or Euros if they wish.
