There are several efforts onboard aiming at developing the decentralized ledger technology (DLT), blockchain and cryptocurrency industry in a Central Asian state and former Soviet republic, Uzbekistan.

As revealed by the National Agency for Project Management, the first cryptocurrency exchange in Asia will soon appear in Uzbekistan. Any firm planning to participate in cryptocurrency exchange operations, is required to be able to operate in line with all the legal demands of the national legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the world of DLT, blockchain, Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.

The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, agreed to approve the creation of a competence center for distributed ledger technologies and Blockchain at the fintech Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center. A draft law, regulating e-currency in legal terms, should be ready till September 1st.
