Blockchain project saved 20 000 lectures from University of California Berkeley from deleting. Videos totaling 4TB are now available on a blockchain based decentralized YouTube called LBRY. Users of the system can store whatever content they like on their devices and then share it with others by downloading the library software. The navigation on the software is made possible by blockchain technology. The service also pays its users via LBRY tokens for downloading the software and videos.

Jack Ma Invests Big in Blockchain Startup

Hundsun Technologies invest in blockchain startup Symbiont. Hundsun is a company owned by Jack Ma, Chinese billionaire who founded the e-commerce giant Alibaba. According to the statement by Symbiont, the partnership between the two firms will see Hundsun opening up Symbiont’s smart contract software to its Chinese customer base.

Celery has suspended its services without any explanation. According to a statement posted to its website, New-York based digital currency exchange has frozen withdrawals, deposits and orders. Celery founder Ilya Subkhankulov declined to offer clarity on the situation. However, he added that information would be released "as soon as possible".

Mexico Authorities Consider Regulating Bitcoin

Mexico government officials revealed details of how the digital currency will be regulated. Jose Bernardo Gonzalez, Head of the Mexican Finance Ministry’s Banking, Securities and Savings Unit, said that the government will try regulate the sellers and buyers of bitcoin, but not the virtual asset itself. The regulators would ensure certain rules to prevent money laundering, improve user protection and so on.

US Credit Unions Will Give Live Demonstration

A blockchain initiative backed by dozens of US credit unions is set to give a live demonstration on the 9th of May. A consortium project CULedger wants to improve how credit unions function – while also making them more competitive in an increasingly tough environment for financial institutions. The idea is to create a blockchain-powered utility through which credit unions could send money or exchange other types of information.
