UC Berkeley and blockchain startup unite for health data research

The University of California, Berkeley and Bitmark will conduct the research studies focused on secure data sharing. According to coindesk, both of the research projects will be funded by Bitmark. Study participants will contribute data about their diabetes remission using Bitmark's tech. A second study will focus on whether the availability of solutions based on the technology would encourage more involvement from test subjects that are contributing personal health data.

Montana’s Governor Steve Bullock plans to bolster local businesses with job stimulus funding. According to the governor, more than $1 million will be distributed to innovative companies within the region.

Nevada State Senate adopts bill prohibiting tax on blockchain

Nevada Senate passed a bill 398, which prohibits tax on blockchain technology. By this document, the Senate recognizes smart contracts as legitimate and binding. Based on the protocol of the Senate Committee On Judiciary, a board of county commissioners should not introduce any legal restrictions on the use of distributed ledger technology.

New Hampshire governor passed a bill that will make digital currency traders’ lives easier. According to the text of the bill, the new rules exempt persons conducting business via transactions in virtual currency from the state's money transmitter regulations. The law goes into effect as of the 1st of August.

Increasing dash adoption among BitCart customers combined with the cryptocurrency’s increasing value has made the company prefer dash over bitcoin.

Fujitsu creates blockchain platform for data handling

Fujitsu develops blockchain software for secure corporate data distribution. According to Cointelegraph, the new blockchain-platform is based on Hyperledger Fabric technology and is designed for decentralized and secure data exchange between different organizations. Fujitsu aims to expand this software and commercialize it during 2017.


EU to fund blockchain surveillance research

A group of European government agencies partners on a new digital currency surveillance project. According to Coindesk, the initiative, dubbed "Tools for the Investigation of Transactions in Underground Markets", or TITANIUM, backed by €5 million in funding from the European Union, will be conducted over the next three years. Participants include Interpol, Interior Ministries from Spain and Austria, Finland's National Bureau of Investigation, and University College London, among others.

Chinese central government to regulate cryptocurrency ICOs

The People’s Bank of China is planning on regulating the cryptocurrency ICO market. According to CoinTelegraph, the corresponding announcement has been made by Yao Qian, head of Digital Currency Research Institute at People’s Bank of China. ICOs have offered Blockchain startups and projects an easy method of raising capital without the existence of mediators. In the past few weeks experts have begun to discuss the legality of ICOs and how they may run into conflict with the government agencies.
