The release was completed across two separate transactions

On November 1, 2026, Ripple executed its scheduled monthly unlock of 1 billion XRP tokens from its ledger escrow system, valued at approximately $1.25 billion based on prevailing market rates.

The release was completed across two separate transactions of 500 million XRP each.

Mechanics of the Monthly Unlock Ritual

Established in late 2017 to provide predictability to the XRP circulating supply, Ripple’s escrow model locks 55 billion XRP into a series of smart contracts designed to release 1 billion tokens on the first day of every month over a 55-month horizon.

Despite the large headline figure of 1 billion tokens entering accessible reserves, the actual net increase to circulating supply is significantly smaller. Historically, Ripple re-locks a vast majority of the newly unlocked XRP, often between 700 million and 800 million tokens, back into fresh multi-year escrow contracts by the end of the unlock window. The remaining unencumbered portion is typically directed toward institutional liquidity provision, cross-border settlement corridors, and enterprise software operations.

Market turbulence

The November 1 unlock occurred amidst broader crypto market turbulence following a difficult October, which saw digital assets pull back due to macroeconomic shifts and security concerns across major trading venues.

XRP entered November trading around $1.25, reflecting a 16.1% pullback during October after reaching an early-month high of $1.56.

Market analysts note that for XRP to regain upward momentum, it faces immediate technical resistance at its 20-day moving average ($1.31) and 50-day moving average ($1.39), with key support anchored around the $1.20 level.

Coinidol.com reported previously that Ripple has received final regulatory approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to establish a national trust bank charter.

Despite short-term price pressure, long-term institutional metrics for XRP remain supported by recent regulatory milestones, including expanded custody integrations by major financial institutions like Bank of New York (BNY) and ongoing trial frameworks for tokenized trade finance on the XRP Ledger.
