The official Apple service center and shop in Minsk, Belarus, announced that it has started to accept Bitcoin and Ethereum as payment for its goods and services.
The “Apple cafeConnect” service center, which sells Apple gadgets and provides services for their repair has begun accepting payments in cryptocurrencies. Now, the store has a special payment terminal that accepts payments in Bitcoin and Ethereum. The management of cafeConnect plans to add more cryptocurrencies in the future.
The payment process is a bit different than in other shops accepting cryptocurrencies so far, the buyer actually pays 1% of the value of the goods in local fiat – Belarusian rubles, and gets a 99% discount that should be processed in Bitcoins or Ethereum. However, according to the management of the store, the whole one hundred percent price of the item gets registered on the invoice, where the payment in the cryptocurrency is written as short-term assets.
Representatives of the Apple cafeConnect store commented:
"Unlike banking services or even electronic money, you do not need any registration anywhere. This means that you don’t need to log in anywhere, or to connect anything to the smartphone or e-mail. You don’t need any two or three-factor authentication. Security is ensured by the fact that information about each transaction is recorded by all participants in the chain - that is millions of devices. "
