Hitachi & KDDI Test Retail Payments System Using Blockchain Tech & Fingerprint Biometric Verification

The goal of the test is to apply a tamper-proof blockchain to simultaneously help in verifying customers' fingerprints and store their coupon usage information more exact and updated across all stores within the network.

Quick And Efficient Shopping System

Hitachi revealed that when customers sign up to use the system, they will be required to register their biometric info and coupon credits, which are further converted to a code into a string of encrypted data and safely kept on the blockchain.

During the initiation of a transaction at a retail shop that allows coupons and takes part in the blockchain tech as a node, buyers will have to officially verify the identity with the help of a fingerprint reading gadget that broadcasts the beseech to the network and the transaction is immediately settled.

A big group of staff from both partners are testing and experimenting carefully with a coupon settlement system installed in a KDDI store located in Shinjuku district in Tokyo plus a local donut shop. Developed by Hitachi with the modern tech from Hyperledger Fabric platform, the DLT system is integrated with KDDI's coupon system and Hitachi's biometric verification.
