The number of fake cryptocurrency and blockchain tech apps in the Google Play Store increases along with the Bitcoin (BTC/USD) price. The cyber-criminals tend to up their dirty games when the cryptocurrency prices rise by creating different scams and malevolent crypto-related apps.

Research conducted by Southern Methodist University showed that trends on Twitter and Google influence prices of cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).

The data provided by Google Trends shows that the search phrase “buy Bitcoin” only multiplied in March after the price of the cryptocurrency started surging.

Fake news around the world increase day in day out at a terrible speed. In January this year, Google successfully removed around 6,226 scam advertising accounts in Italy. Meanwhile, the European Union (EU) parliamentary elections will start from May 23-26.

The Bitcoin (BTC) transaction rate is now approaching its highest peak since December 2017 notwithstanding the one-year long bear market.
